General Meeting Minutes
4:15 pm - 5:25 pm.

Call to order: General meeting was called to order at 4:05 by Wendelin Dunlap, PTA President on March 10th, 2008. Location, Whitney music room. PTA board members present include: Sara Schlundt , Tammy Pugh, and Wendelin Dunlap. Other attendees include:Rosie Noble, Roxanna Moser, Debbie Aldridge, Cathy LaCroix, Jeanne Anderson, and Kevin Schwartz.

Approval of Minutes: Minutes from February 11th, 2008 were provided to all attending. The minutes were submitted and approved with no additions or deletions.

Agenda: Submitted and approved with no additions or deletions.

Treasurer's report: Tammy Pugh gave the treasurer's report. Copies of the report were made available to all attendee's. The report was reviewed and filed for audit with no corrections.

Our Town Our Park donation made for $100. Fence picket will say "Whitney School"

Wish list was completed and distributed March 11th.

Told Carissa Jangard that the PTA will help subsidize Kindergarten field trip so the cost will be $5.00 to the students.

Staff/Teacher Appreciation: Token of appreciation gifts were given to the classified staff for Classified Staff Appreciation Week March 11th- 15th. The same will be done for the teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week May 5th- 9th. PTA will also host an all Staff/Teacher appreciation luncheon on Wednesday April 23rd from 11:00-12:30, catered by Olive Garden. Soup, salad, and breadsticks will be served.

Other: Ten dozen cookies were delivered to the Whitney library on Friday March 7th for Carissa Jangard to take to the children art show. Those that attended the event said it was a big success with a large attendance.

PTA office was 80% cleaned out minus going through the file cabinets. The PTA has no use for a box of items that look like they were from a previous fundraiser so the items will be offered to the staff to take.

Next Years PTA Board: Wendelin Dunlap nominated Sara Schlundt for PTA President next year. Tammy Pugh was also nominated for Treasurer. Fliers will be made to help solicit new PTA members. They will be ready by March 19th to give to pre-school parents at open house. They will also be sent home during conferences March 20th -25th to recruit any potential parents who are remaining at Whitney for next year.

Yearbook- 700 pictures have been gathered thus far. Decided to go with black and white pages to make the cost as low as possible. The thought was to order at most 100 books for no more than $10.00 each. Wendelin Dunlap mentioned using pages in the back for advertising; open to both parents with businesses and local businesses for $10.00 an advertisement. Also talked about a brag page for parents to submit well wishes to their child. Will offer for free, donations optional. Flier to parents will go out during conference week.

Fund raising Spring T-shirt order completed, made $117.50.

Escrip update: Will have teachers talk to parents about signing up for Escrip during conferences. Currently only have a hand full of people signed up.

Family fun night scheduled for Wednesday March 26th. Plan details will be discussed off-line due to time restraints of the current meeting.

Walk-a-Thon: Scheduled for Wednesday May 21st. Start organizing and recruiting volunteers.

Readers Digest Fundraiser Potential- Was decided to focus on Spring Walk-a- Thon instead of taking on an additional fundraiser before the end of the year.
