Agenda: Submitted and approved with no additions or deletions.
Treasurer’s Report: Tammy Bartley gave the treasurer’s report. Copies of the report were made available to all attendee’s. The report was reviewed and filed for audit with no corrections. There are currently 42 members (way to go!!).
Insurance was the only expense for the month. We broke even with the cost of providing the emergency packs.
Box Tops: Patricia Wills reporting that box tops earning for the year is at $115.10. Campbell Soup Label points total 2165!!
Patricia suggesting we try a Box Top Holiday drive with a Dixie cup ice cream party at the end of the collection to celebrate goal.
Box top and soup label canisters should be delivered to each class by end of this week.
Fund Raising: There have been links added to our fundraising sites on the Whitney PTA website (i.e.: Box Tops, Escrip... etc).
Sarah will be highlighting one fundraiser each month in a letter to parents to help with educating on how that fundraiser works and just raise general awareness about how to easily earn money for the school.
Ms. Moser suggested putting together a flyer that the teachers can hand out during conferences explaining this years fundraising options.
Ideas for the “big spring fundraiser” were brought up as:
- Art work pottery
- Buy a brick
- Walk-a-thon
Family Fun Night: Tomorrow night (November 6th). Game night and ice cream social.
Tentative date of December 12th for wood craft night.
Kinder caroling is December 7th.
Playground: Holding off at this point and time to see if I-4204 and the bond that will be running again in February pass. If they pass there is the possibility of doing a playground equipment exchange with the YMCA program at the High School. Which would change the amount of our fundraising goal for the year.
Christmas Grants & Teacher Wish List: Christmas Grants were discussed as far as what amount per teacher is given each year. It was decided to give $100 per teacher for full time teachers, $50 per teacher for the AM pre-K and PM Pre-K classes.
Sarah Schlundt proposed doing a “Teacher Wish List”. Which would provide each teacher with $20 for small items that they need for their classroom. Motion seconded and approved.
Endorsement of I-4204: Phone calls will be made at the local Windermere office prior to ballots being due to help raise awareness and support.
Principal Report: Reading day is last day before Christmas break (December 18th). A guest reader is assigned to be in each classroom. Classes rotate through each classroom every 15 minutes, while the reader stays in the classroom to read a story.
The bond will re-run in February. If the bond passes the portable and the playground will come to Whitney from the High School. There is also the possibility of receiving a $4500 Grant to put towards new playground equipment.
The reader board is done on a volunteer basis. To ensure the PTA meeting date and time is posted each month one of the PTA members should either do it, or follow up with the volunteer (Kathy LaCroix??) to be sure it is posted. Supplies for the reader board are in the PTA office.
Yes... surprise, surprise!!! there is a PTA office!!
Meeting adjourned 4:50 p.m.
